It’s that time again….New York Fashion Week! So far there are two runway shows that have woken me up from my nap, Miss Sixty and surprisingly, Diane Von Furstenberg. Miss Sixty has a fun, hip seventies vibe that is playful and wearable, something much needed in fashion right now. The kicker for me was the balloon-gaucho-short-pants that sauntered down the catwalk, very reminiscent of the ones Blayne from Project Runway made for last weeks challenge. Oh no! Could Blayne-a-licious be on to something? And here’s Blayne’s version….
Unfortunately for him, the challenge was to create a look for Diane von Furstenberg’s Fall collection, and the balloon-gaucho look just did not fit her aesthetic. Which brings me to Diane’s showing in New York this week…..fabulous!!! Based on her color pallette and designs seen on Project Runway, I was a bit underwhelmed, but her Spring 2009 is a hit! Floppy hats, giant over-sized bags, bold prints and flowing dresses with a touch of ethnic flavor…..count me in!
