As many of you know, Boho is short for Bohemian which means “somebody with an unconventional or gypsy lifestyle.” Well hold on to your floppy hats! Before Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, there was one girl who earned the title “Bohemian queen”; her name was Talitha Getty.
Talitha wasn’t well known by the public but she hung out with famous people like Mick Jagger and Diane Von Furstenberg. Even the couturier Yves Saint Laurent was enthralled by her beauty and style, and she quickly became his muse.
Most people remember this party girl for a photo of her and über-rich husband John Paul, taken in 1969 by Patrick Lichfield. The shot took place on a roof-top in Marrakesh, Morocco, which was a major destination for hippies in the late 1960’s.
Talitha was only thirty when she died of a heroin overdose, which was the same time period as Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin. Although she is gone, her boho hippie vibe, still inspires many designers and fashionistas today.
