Since the age of 12 I have enjoyed traveling by plane. My first trip was to NYC to visit my Aunt and Uncle. I remember looking out the window in total awe of the view from the sky. After the events of September 11, and the “crackdown” on airport security, my love for flying to different cities and countries has not diminished, but my enjoyment of the process has taken quite a hit. No longer being able to greet loved ones at the gate, waiting in line for hours to go through the check points, and watching an 80 year old woman feebly bend down to take off her shoes to show she wasn’t concealing any dangerous weapons, have all contributed to disdain this passion.
Today, Slobot sent me a link that brought me back to a time when you could check 5 bags and make your flight in 15 minutes; when flight attendants smiled and the blankets were comfy! Cliff Muskiet has put up a site to tell about himself and his passion for collecting stewardess uniforms. Cliff’s collection contains more than 700 uniforms from various airlines worldwide, from the 1960’s to today. Although I have not met him personally, Cliff looks like a person who truly enjoys what he does for a living. Not only does he collect these amazing uniforms, he is a dedicated flight attendant himself.
Here are a few of my favorites, but visit his site Uniform Freak for the complete experience!
